Zhuhai NCA has long been dedicated to basic scientific research in low Reynolds number aerodynamics for micro air vehicles. Our focus extends to the overall design and flight control solutions for flight at low Reynolds numbers, as well as the engineering methods and process technologies required for manufacturing these vehicles. Combining these efforts with advanced biomimetic aerodynamic technology, the scientific team at Zhuhai NCA created and manufactured a variety of commercial electric micro fixed-wing air vehicles (NCA-MAVs) in 2011.
The electric NCA-MAV represents an integration of multiple cutting-edge scientific technologies. Key features include a sophisticated modular design, a special biomimetic wing structure characterized by a low aspect ratio and high lift-to-drag ratio, and a biomimetic high-lift device that automatically coordinates the relationship between lift and airflow. Furthermore, the vehicle incorporates a low-power, reliable flight control and mission integration system, an efficient and safe electric propeller propulsion unit, and an airframe capable of rapid folding and deployment.
Compared to electric micro-helicopters and multi-rotor micro air vehicles, the fixed-wing electric NCA-MAVs possess unique advantages: higher flight efficiency and a relatively larger payload capacity. Given the same power battery and mission capabilities, electric fixed-wing NCA-MAVs offer longer endurance and a wider cruising range. The NCA-MAV series—fully equipped with power batteries and basic mission equipment such as video transmission—has a sea-level takeoff weight of only 38-46 grams. Under general weather conditions, it achieves a single-flight endurance of 55-65 minutes. With its multi-mission capabilities, the NCA-MAV holds broad market prospects across numerous fields of social activity.
